An Overview on Chinese Performance & Entertainment Equipment Industry
The latest investigation shows that there are 5588 companies engaging in the manufacturing and providing related services in the performance & entertainment equipment industry. According to the statistics, among the aforesaid companies, 4,558 are involving in the industry of lighting, sound, stage machinery while the rest belongs to the related fields and business.
Chinese performance& entertainment equipment industry has gained rapid growth since the 2008 Beijing Olympic Games, the 2010 Shanghai World Expo, Guangzhou Asian Games venues construction, and the equipment renewal of the old stadium, as well as the country's tens of thousands of various types of performances.
According to the last national economic census statistics, the total number of performance & entertainment equipment companies in China compared to the previous census results in a growth of 28.3% and the enterprise number of core business (professional lighting, professional sound, stage machinery) increased by 16.8%. The sector's total assets have reached to RMB 54.697 billion and the annual revenue to RMB78.726 billion. Overall, this industry is less capital investment, faster turnaround and the barriers to entry are relatively low.
The investigation also reveals the characteristics of the performance & entertainment industries:
1. Most of the companies are private-owned;
2. the growth of enterprise number has slowed a lot in the past few years;
3. the industry is not highly concentrated both in assets and staff numbers;
4. manufacturing enterprises are mainly concentrated in the Yangtze River Delta and Pearl River Delta;
5. most of the products are aimed for low-end market with low profit margin;
